That’s your take-away from this story? That feminism is deluded and off base — really? It takes a special kind of heartlessness and cowardice to read an article like this for the express purpose of telling the woman who wrote it and who has shared about a traumatic experience that she’s essentially over-reacted. Hope you feel “manly” now!

You seem to be missing the concept (as so many men do) that feminism evolved out of experience and not the other way around. It’s not some invented cult that has brainwashed women into an abstract system of beliefs. It’s a very direct result of 5 thousand years of violence, abuse, and less than full citizenship. As recently as 50 years ago women could not hold a mortgage or a credit card in their own name. They could be eliminated from juries simply for being female or could be fired for being pregnant. They could not attend Ivy League universities and their bodies literally belonged to their husbands because there was no such thing as marital rape.

And in present day we still have half of murdered women killed by intimate partners. “The number of American troops killed in Afghanistan and Iraq between 2001 and 2012 was 6,488. The number of American women who were murdered by current or ex male partners during that time was 11,766. That’s nearly double the amount of casualties lost during war.”

1 in 6 who will be raped, 1 in 4 will suffer severe domestic abuse. Read the stories about the toxic atmospheres at Nike, Pixar, CBS, FEMA, most of Silicon Valley, etc., etc. Read the open letter from the women who work in our country’s national security about how much harassment and sexism they encounter. Maybe after you actually educate yourself on the topic and take all of that into account you can pontificate about how feminism is off base.
