Yes, I think people begin to imagine the Soviet Union with everyone standing in rags in a bread line rather than someplace like Denmark or the Netherlands. It will be hard to dismantle that part, because it drives consumer culture, which to some extent, drives the economy, but as you’ve said, there’s room for people to choose what is important to them. Some people have 5 TVs, and some people have one or none. If you’re making that decision based on what you actually want for your life rather than what you’ve seen on TV and been led to believe is aspirational, it’s not a problem.
