Well, I guess we are going to have to agree to disagree on that one. I don’t ever see shutting off emotion as a desirable thing to do. It doesn’t mean that we have to always act from emotion, but we get a lot of information from our emotions that can be useful in decision making. For more about what I mean by this, check out Malcolm Gladwell’s book, Blink: The Art of Thinking Without Thinking. I also believe that shutting off emotion is socialized in rather than hard wired, particularly for guys.
