Until 50 years ago women couldn’t own a house or business in their own name. They couldn’t get a credit card in their own name. They were excluded from Ivy League schools and lawfirms declined to interview them for jobs based purely on gender. They could be excluded from juries for being female and could be fired for being pregnant. All of that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Patriarchy is not intended to only disadvantage women, it’s intended to disadvantage most people because it’s based in a hierarchy. Only a few men at the top really enjoy most of the spoils of it.

If you’d truly like to further educate yourself so that you make an informed decision, you should read Sacred Pleasure: Sex, Myth and the Politics of the Body by Riane Eisler. It’s a really interesting but also well written scholarly work that is easily accessible to the reader.

“Eisler is one of the great seers of our time. This extraordinarily powerful and beautiful book will stand as one of the epic works of our generation.” — John Robbins, author of “Diet for a New Americo””A candid, scholarly, and thrilling tour of the body … Eisler is a consummate thinker and researcher whose work lays the foundation for a healing between the sexes that could dramatically change society.” — Joan Borysenko, PH.D., author of “Minding the Body, Mending the Mind””Fascinating . . . “ — “New York Times””You must read Riane Eisler’s Sacred Pleasure.” — John Bradshaw. author of “Family Secrets and Creating Love”
