Uninvited sexual touching, even from an old friend, is really not okay under any circumstances. It’s not in the same category as patting someone’s hand without permission. I think one of the things in play in this instance is the myth that guys want anything to do with sex all of the time, and that’s simply not always the case. I’m an effusive, physical person, but I would never grope anyone, even playfully, unless I knew for sure that it was welcomed, in part because I respect other people’s personal space and in part because I’ve had enough uninvited touching myself to not want to subject anyone else to that.
