This phenomenon is most definitely not due to a lack of effort by women! It happens to strong, authoritative, confident women all of the time. See my example about the astronaut having her terminolgy mansplained to her by a guy who once went to space camp. In fact, you “deciding” that in the face of women talking about their lived experience is also mansplaining. You know better than they do about their own experiences.

You are however correct that it stems from arrogance, and yes, women can be arrogant too, but they still rarely explain a man’s experiences or field of expertise to him.
