There are many, many good men out there in the world, but the fact of the matter is, we have all lived in a domination based heirarchy for the past 5K years and so we have a deeply engrained culture of abuse towards anyone perceived as weaker (it’s how one ensures that one stays higher up in the hierarchy).

As you are very well aware, plenty of guys get bullied, but what #MeToo truly revealed is just how pervasive these experiences are for nearly all women, beginning in tween years often and never quite ever ending. Rape is nothing more than a really extreme version of this, and yes, it’s incredibly common. Men get raped too, but overwhelmingly it’s by other men. Toxic masculinity has become a somewhat useless term at this juncture, but it’s this need to always dominance others, often violently that is really a problem. Then there is the ensuing emotional isolation that is required of the one doing the dominating in order to go through life that way. I think all of that is at the core of the bulk of our societal issues — it’s what I believe anyway.
