“The negative comment that was made the most on the Youtube channel, was an accusation that we (Rebel Wisdom) were ‘betraying’ Peterson in some way by criticising him.” And this is exactly why Peterson followers are cult-like; not because the media says so, but because they behave that way and act like cult-members a good bit of the time.
The patriarchy is not a competence based system. That’s a completely ludicrous and uninformed assertion. It’s a hierarchy of traditional power that seeks to snuff out anyone who challenges it based on actual competency. If the patriarchy were competence based, it wouldn’t have needed laws and rules to limit access to opportunity and power. Until the mid 1960s law firms wouldn’t even interview women, and I’m going to guess most of them weren’t interviewing men of color either. Until the 1970s women couldn’t own a home or a business in their own name, or even get a credit card in their own name. They couldn’t serve on a jury. There weren’t universal marital rape laws until 1993! How does any of that reflect competence? And what about keeping people disenfranchised (either through law or practices like Jim Crow)?
CEOs and politicians are often sociopaths/psychopaths who have risen to power on the pretext of competancies that they don’t actually possess. http://www.businessinsider.com/ceos-often-have-psychopathic-traits-2017-7
1 in 5 CEOs are psychopaths, study finds
An Australian study has found that about one in five corporate executives are psychopaths - roughly the same rate as…
Masculine power is only in decline because of it’s own blindness and excesses. Reviving it to 1950s levels will not help men and it certainly won’t help women. And why should people who have been under the boot of a tyrannical element forgo bringing that up in favor of noticing the “good parts?” That’s what a white man WOULD say…….
Chaos is the birthplace of all new possibility. If what Peterson is trying to bring forth is order, bring on the chaos!
