Thanks for sharing this harrowing experience so openly. My partner and I went through something, which was not exactly the same, but had many similarities. He was able to stay overnight with me in the hospital, but ultimately the next day I ended up driving us home because he was throwing up — his body’s response to 14 hours of extreme stress where he could not help me except to be there, much against his preferred grain of being competent and on top of things. I didn’t think any less of him, but it’s taken me many years to understand how he was caught in a crucible where his legitimate emotions were self-suppressed. I look forward to a time when everyone can have more of a chance to be why they really are.
