Thanks for sharing that. It must be very difficult. And this is truly my point in writing this — not to shame men or poke fun at them, but to point out what a disservice it is to our society and to individual men to demand that they stuff their feelings. Externalizing one’s wounds by abusing others is an extreme example, but I think it’s the linch-pin of our violence problem, and it’s been normalized as a part of the dominance hierarchy structure. Rather than encouraging people to work with themselves or to get help for their wounded places, we’ve made it almost a badge of honor to bully and subjugate others as a show of power. That’s a big societal issue!
