Happy Labor Day weekend to our readers in the US. Labor Day pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers and the activists who fought for such things as the 8-hour day and safer working conditions.

Sensual: An erotic life has a writing prompt going on during the month of September and we would like to hear from you on the topic of a memorable erotic experience — memorable in either a positive way or even because it didn’t go as planned. This could be a date, a relationship, a time you tried something new in bed, or anything at all that is related to sex, sexuality, and erotic relationships. It can be funny, reflective, poignant, or just sharing an experience.

The deadline for this writing prompt is Saturday, October 1, 2022. At that time, Sensual will select some of the best submissions of either poetry or essays to feature in the October 2nd Newsletter. We look forward to seeing what you have to share. Please add the kicker Memorable if you wish to participate.

So, You Watched How to Build a Sex Room, What Luxurious Item Do You Want First by Demeter Delune
I finally watched Netflix’s How to Build a Sex Room. I need more Melanie Rose. I need more rooms. But more than that, I just need more of this show because in case you missed it, spoiler alert, this show isn’t just about building a sex room.

As my dear friend Chloe Meyer said perfectly while I was live Tweeting and watching, “the casual way she introduces kink and sex education alongside sensible incorporation into daily life at every level is just…exquisite.”

5 Life-Changing Benefits of Semen Retention by Lenerd Louw
Through my work with men and male sexuality, I have come to notice that, generally speaking, men are not thriving. This is mainly because most men don’t live and express their sexuality to its fullest, yet it is this area of life that makes us feel alive, powerful, wanted, happy, creative, and excited about life.

Men are not thriving because most of them don’t know just how much energy they lose every time they ejaculate, nor are they aware of the fact that they are probably addicted to ejaculation. It is the most common addiction in men, yet it became normalized, and so nobody questions it.

I Wore a Bikini at a Beach Full of Naked Men by Mysterious Witt
I’m setting this up this way so you’ll understand that when I decided not to go nude at this beach, it wasn’t because I was self-figleafing.

Self-figleafing is a term I learned in the book, The Politics of Lust by John Ince, about how people are taught to fear their sexuality and, above all, their genitalia, so they don’t even need to be told to cover up. They’re so embarrassed by their nakedness that they do it to themselves.

Why men who do their ‘inner work’ are so irresistibly hot by Everyman
Inner work is the psychological and spiritual practice of diving deep into your inner self for the purposes of self-exploration, self-understanding, healing, and spiritual transformation

It involves becoming familiar with every corner of your psyche — the conscious, the unconscious, and the sub-conscious — and accepting and approving of its state.

Three Exciting Things About Sex I’ll Bet You Didn’t Know by Rachel
Couples who have sex once a week are the happiest, according to a University of Toronto study that involved around 28,000 people. This study was published in the scientific journal Society for Personality and Social Psychology, and, it seems, this regularity is enough for the members of the couple to feel that they are maintaining an intimate connection with each other.

The study’s author explains that she hopes these results will help people adjust to expectations and anxieties about having sex together and whether they feel they are having more or less sex than other couples.

Poetry 🧝‍♀️

Wear That Bikini Thong by Lindsay Soberano-Wilson
For so long I sang their song
of all that was so wrong
but this summer
this summer

I sang my own song

My Blazing Heart by Lucy Lewis
An inferno ignites from the smallest of sparks
blazing beacon in the charcoal night
searing through cool September chill
a smoldering reminder to my soul
of the thrill of your tender touch

What Is Heaven to You? by Byron George
Heaven is your haven
The target of my desire
It’s your whole being
Your soul that I require

Sensational Yearning For Love by Nuva Loreni
He puts the phone in his pocket,
takes a deep breath, smiles,
and stares outside through the window
To take a view of the beautiful mountains

slippery fuzzball by Aaron Quist
thrusts
into nothing —
the disco of hip &
heavenless paradise
