“Peterson’s thought-crime is that he disagrees with the view of transgender activists that gender is a social construct and has no grounding in biology (although he is not opposed to transgender rights in general).”

To say that one is not opposed to transgender rights in general (even though you believe it’s all a “made up” construct, despite the quite significant evidence to the contrary -biology is very, very far from being binary, but again he’s obsessed with binaries and so cannot admit to that — is just specious. There were/are trans people who support him because they object to other people speaking up for their needs or desires, but this is always going to be the case with social progress, because no groups are homogenous.

Every single person who speaks as part of a group is primarily identifying as an individual. What they care most about is their individual problems and the fact that they’ve found thousands or even millions of others who have the same or similar individual problems is what allows them to speak with a collective voice — which is the only kind of speaking that has ever resulted in any kind of major societal change.

To say that no-one should speak until they have their own house in order is not good advice. Who ever gets their life completely and totally in order? No-one does! We all juggle our own strengths and weaknesses all of the time. This is just another bogus invented idealogy in order to shut down the voices of those he finds distasteful.
