My partner and I recently had made a date with a sexy young man (half my age). I worried about his lack of experience but he was eager and we seemed to have a good connection that was about more than lust. The night before the date it became really apparent to me that he was insecure, idealizing me (telling me what to wear and how to do my hair) and also narcissistic. He said, “I can’t wait to have you,” rather than I can’t wait to meet you/be with you. I cancelled the entire thing. My man was really happy that I had. He had been very concerned about someone who clearly didn’t see me as a whole person.

You’ve put everything that I was thinking about that situation into words and affirmed my decision to not proceed.
