Men aren’t hard-wired to be that way. They are socialized to be that way by living in a dominance hierarchy where they must always show that they are in control or risk (so they perceive) of being pushed further down the pyramid of power/status. Since a component of this is also gender hierarchy, there’s not a lot of practice in heeding the words of someone who is considered to be of lower ranking — a woman.
Recognizing this and making it conscious is the first step towards doing something about it. Glad that you did.
