Many organizations have gathered data in a variety of ways that support the objective truth that violence against women is a pervasive and troubling dynamic. Whether it’s 1 in 6 women who will be raped or 1 in 8 is not particularly relevant. There is no substantive data collected by an equal number of reliable organizations that says the number is actual more like 1 in 50. This is an example of how we have some understanding of what is the objective reality of a situation.
One lone woman’s opinion is indicative of her perspective alone. She is not a spokesperson for NOW or any other feminist organization, although other than the part about legislation, what she says about fostering discussions and encouraging behavior that isn’t anti-social is hardly offensive.
I’m not going into the slavery stuff with you again. The Vice President of the Confederacy made a well known speech glorifying the founding of a new country based in a slave economy. It seems unlikely that he would have bothered if it were actually not a viable economic system.
And how are you defying patriarchy when you have said there is no real way to know what that even is and that you certainly don’t? C’mon…….I like you but sometimes I wonder if you are high when you write this stuff or perhaps it’s just that you like to argue and so you say whatever contradicts me just for the fun of it.
