It’s interesting that you chose as your image the Sheela Na Gig, which is an image that speaks to the sacredness and inherent magic of the female reproductive organs, but fail to recognize that this is exactly what Bolz-Weber is invoking by turning these melted “purity rings” into a sculpture of a vulva. The Sheela Na Gig can still be seen on the doorways of many Catholic churches because its sacredness is apparent, even to them.

Pre-patriarchy, sexuality, and particularly female sexuality was an integral part of spirituality and sacredness. To try to recapture that is a move towards healing the past 10,000 years of abuse, and suppression.
