I’m really starting to understand how we North Americans are so socialized to think about ourselves as individuals that it’s hard for some people to consider a social system or dynamic other than through the lens of personal identity. I have a background in sociology so I tend to look at many things as societal issues, but I think this is at least a part of the problem with some men feeling like they are being attacked, even though it’s not about them in particular. They just don’t know how to separate themselves from a larger societal issue.
