I wrote something a while back on how people who don’t have good access to their emotions and who have been socialized to believe that said emotions are a liability then create pseudo-intellectual frameworks to mask what is essentially their fears and shadow being projected. You cannot reason with fears, so facts and logic don’t often get through, although it doesn’t keep me from trying from time to time.

Empathy requires vulnerability and the less empathetic someone is, the more they are coming from a place of fears, I think.
