I had pretty long hair for most of my adult life, trying to look like a Breck ad, even though it took me forever to dry it and otherwise wrestle it into any semblance of that. When my son was born, I ended up wearing it in a ponytail all of the time because otherwise, he’d pull it. When I went to get it cut off, the male stylist asked if I had my husband’s permission to cut it. Yeah, why do we go to those bargain hair places in the first place? It ended up on the short side, but not truly short — big surprise.

After a couple of years, I grew it back out to shoulder length, but then about 5 years ago (hmm… maybe around the time of opening up our marriage) I cut it very short, and haven’t looked back. My husband loves it that length, so that’s helpful, but I don’t know that I’ll ever do anything else from now on because it looks good, and is so easy to take care of.

Glad that you made yourself happy!
