Human error is what causes accidents, 94% of the time according to the DOT. You may have the skills and training to be able to react quickly and properly in a crisis. The average driver doesn’t, and certainly not if he’s 16 or 90, texting, yelling at the kids in the backseat or any of the many other things that drivers frequently do.

A few days ago a drunk man fell asleep while his Tesla was on autopilot. Police were able to pull in front of him and the car stopped itself. If he hadn’t had autopilot he quite likely would have veered into another lane or off the side of the road, killing himself and others — something that happens just about every day in America.
