Good piece! I wrote about this the other day as well — how the innocent until proven guilty thing was bandied about as a weapon in this case rather than in the way that is intended (and used in every other instance). Accusations of sexual assault seem to be the only types of alleged crimes that get treated with “prove it” right off the bat. All other crimes get investigated and pursued until such time as it can be determined that a false accusation is being made. And rates of false accusation of sexual assault are rare and only made by certain types of women in certain types of circumstances.

This whole debacle was never about the pursuit of truth. It was about playing politics and preserving power.
