As good of a relationship as we’ve always had, in the past James did tend to think anytime that I expressed an opinion that was different from his that I was undermining him or being argumentative. That’s how he’d been socialized. Interestingly, since opening up our relationship, we now look at each other more as individuals, and this dynamic has decreased quite a bit. He no longer subconsciously views me as someone who is a kind of an antecedent of him; someone who should think like he does. Thanks goodness!
