All ads geared towards women since the inception of advertising tell them how they need to improve; how they can become more acceptable wives, mothers and sex kittens. They essentially point out how women can become better at and more pleasing as they serve men and children. At least the Gilette ad encouraged men to help co-create a better society for eveyone.

“It’s 2018, and many ads featuring women are still steeped in 1950s-era patriarchal stereotypes. And 85 percent of women say they are offended by stereotypical depictions of their gender, according to a joint study by JWT and the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media.”
