A lot of people project their shit onto others, particularly online. I recently left a comment where about six different people misunderstood what I said to the point of misquoting me and entirely glossing over large chunks of what I'd said - accusing me of saying the exact opposite of what I did say. I finally had to go back and highlight my own comment, leaving an edit in bold at the bottom telling people to actually read what I'd actually said before leaving an offended comment. It was maddening, in part because it's lazy, and I like you, try hard to be clear and compassionate. And, most people are just marinating in their pain, looking for ways to temporarily ease it by causing someone else some pain. I'd like to live in a society that doesn't teach people to do that, but we aren't there yet. Hang in there!
